from the coversion script i got
15 year = 473,040,000 second
so to get the sig fig you just take the first 3 most significant digits 473 and rount it there. because a 0 is following the 3 you'll be rounding down. so yopu get 4.73x10[sup]8[/sup] or 473000000

If you wanted to work it out.....

15 years * 365 = days * 24 = hours * 60 = minutes * 60 = seconds.
15 * 365 * 24 * 60 * 60 = 473,040,000 seconds

Since every 4 years is a leap year, you could also add 3 days to that. (15/4 rounded down)
3 * 24 * 60 * 60 = 259,200 seconds

473,040,000 + 259,200 = 473,299,200

Not sure what you mean by 3 significant figures, so just follow MWeed.
