Could you please explain how to convert temperature from F to C in 5th grade language?

The formula is:
°C = (°F - 32) / 1.8
In english, it is
First subtract 32, then divide by 1.8
So if you have 100 °F
(100 - 32) / 1.8 = 37.778 °C
