how do you convert kg/m^2 to lb/ft^2? The units for a helicopter disc loading.

You start by converting the basic units.
1 kilogram = 2.20462262184878 pound
1 square meter = 10.7639104167097 square foot
Then you create the conversion factor based on that.
(kilogram to pound)/(square meter to square foot)
2.20462262184878/10.7639104167097 = 0.2048
kg/m[sup]2[/sup] * 0.2048 = lb/ft[sup]2[/sup]
