How to convert BTU's to Watts?
by onemorecast on 06/29/05 at 12:59:59

Trying to establish what size generator will run a 12,000 RV air conditioner and how to determine that so one gets one large enough to provide enough power but only as large as necessary to keep the size of the portable generator down.
Any info. appreciated.

I think the Btu rating on an air conditioner is the energy output. You'd need to look up the power input required.

You could have two air conditioners producing the same Btu out, but one using half the wattage. Just depends on the efficiency of the unit.

There must be some place on the unit that has a sticker which lists the power requirements not just the energy output. Most things do.
