How do I convert 4,932 sq. yds into feet? (Not square feet) Any suggestions would help! Thanks  ???

That depends on what you are trying to do.

area in square feet / width in feet = length in feet

Though if you post additional information as to exactly what you are trying to do, I may be of more help.

I am currently getting ready to work on a highway paving job testing the densities, the hangup is the DOT has a spec called random sampling and provides a sheet that has figured numbers of where the next test will be which is in square yards. The stationing is in feet so I can keep track of my tests. The width of the road averages to 40 feet but we are dividing that into three lanes. So I basically need to know the length each test will be in feet instead of sq. yds. I appreciate your help!

First convert to square feet.

4,932 square yard = 44,388 square feet

The next step would depend on if you want to use the complete width of the road, or the width of the lane. I will use both ways.

44,388 square feet/ 40 foot = 1,109.7 feet

44,388 square feet / (40/3) feet = 3,329.1 feet

So if the test uses all 3 lanes, it will be every 1109.7 feet, or if it just uses a single lane it will be every 3329.1 feet.
