I am trying to convert a value given in "Ni µg/l" to ppb can you tell me how?

That would be a straight 1 to 1 conversion, assuming the substance the nickel is disolved in is pure water at 20º C.

ppb = µg/kg
1 liter water = 1 kilogram
so
1 µg/l of water is the same as 1 µg/kg of water, which is the same as 1 ppb

Since the nickel is already expressed in terms of weight, its density would not matter.
