Converting digital picture from pixels to dpi

Converting digital picture from pixels to dpi

I have a 1600 by 1200 pixel digital picture that I want to submit in a photo contest. The contest requires that the digital picture be uploaded as a 72 dpi image. How do I make this conversion?

It is most likely aready at 72 dpi, as it is the most common setting for photos viewed on computers. Another common setting is 96 dpi.

In Windows Explorer, right-click on the image and select Properties, then select the Summary tab. It will list the resolution.

Most photo editing software have settings to adjust the dpi, I use Paint Shop Pro from Corel. The shareware version can be downloaded here http://www.jasc.com/
