I am trying to do a bake-off.  LOL  I want to make a shopping list and can't figure out how many bags of flour and sugar to buy.  I thought is I figured out how many cups of sugar and flour I needed I could convert that to how many bags to buy...

According to the Rec.Cooking.FAQ...

U.S. All-purpose flour has a density of 4.5 cups per pound.

50 pounds * 4.5 cups/pound = 225 cups

Granulated sugar has a densiy of 2.4 cups per pound.

50 pounds * 2.4 cups/pound = 120 cups
